Just as requested, here is how I made the healthy substitute for the traditional white potatoes deep fried fries. 🍟 😌💁🏽♀️ Hope you enjoy these as much as I did, do tag me & let me know how you liked it. Any questions or doubts leave them in comments, will answer them for sure.
Typically 1 serving of McDonald’s French Fries (Medium) = 340 calories where more then 50% of it is just fats, not the good kind. On the other hand these yam fries are around 200 to 250 calories per serving + you get all the additional nutrients that our body needs on an everyday basis that are naturally present in yam. (more info on yam below📌) This way you still enjoy fries & also do some good to your body by providing all the essential vitamins. 🍠💃🏼
It is so simple to make these, I can’t even call it a “recipe”, but definitely no compromise on the taste. This is probably the only guilt free fries ever, easy to make, tastes good, very little to no oil, low in calories, nothing but good benefits for your health and treat for your taste buds.😋😋😋
Ingredients & Prepping:
- Preheat oven to 350°C
- Two cups yam cut into julienne
- Sea Salt & Black pepper to taste
- Coriander powder (coriander seed health benefits)
- Coconut Oil to bake/Olive Oil for drizzle
- Mustard or hummus for dipping or some homemade marinara sauce or guacamole will taste delicious 😋
Instructions: In a bowl add all the cut yam with desired seasoning, although less salt should be good. Mix well, spread everything over a baking sheet evenly. If you are using coconut oil you can drizzle some now, if using olive oil drizzle some after the baking is complete. Bake this for 10 to 15mins at 350°C check on them after & continue to bake for another 5mins if needed. They will be done pretty quickly, keep an eye on them.
If there are leftovers you can totally use them the next day as a lil snack, place them under the broiler for just 3 to 4mins and done that’s your healthy lil snack in no time. They will get crispy at this point. 😋
